Wally Gomez
Founder and Director of Blason Studio. As an artist, he specializes in children’s illustration, comics, licensed art, animation and creation of editorial projects.
With more than 20 years of experience, he has created books and comics in publishing houses throughout Argentina, Uruguay, USA, Denmark, Slovenia, Puerto Rico, Spain, Mexico, Nicaragua, Italy, among others.
He started his professional training at an early age, as an assistant to Daniel Griffo (Duendes del Sur, Warner/DC Comics, Disney, Scholastic, etc.). In his first jobs, he assisted with pencils and inks for various artists, such as Leo Batic.
By pure chance, he met Carlos Meglia and a great friendship was born. Meglia became his mentor and together they gave life to several projects, most notably “Red Song”, together with Carlos Trillo.
Meglia also taught him part of his current techniques, as well as new and dynamic work system.
In 2000 he created KBM!, a studio that gathered several colleagues from Argentina, and in 2004 he started his very own adventure in Blason Studio, specializing in editorial illustration, children’s illustration, animation, and training future generations of artists.
In 2009 he created Napoleones sin Batallas, a new publishing house, together with Marcelo Ferran. In 2013, he left in order to continue growing as an artist.
Wally is an active creator, whether alone or in a team, and is always building new projects, stories, books, and TV and animation productions. He is currently involved in several ongoing projects and freelancing in Studio Blason with comic masters Horacio Lalia, Ruben Meriggi, Rodolfo Migliari, Diego Yapur and Andres Rodriguez.
Among his works and clients, we can highlight the most important publishing houses and producers from USA, Italy and the Americas. He was involved in hundreds of books and comics, as well as character design, covers and several collaborations in animated projects.
Wally is always working with an eye in the horizon, always learning, and giving his very best in every endeavor, with professionalism, but without losing the most essential element of art, which is communicating, conveying, reaching one’s heart and enjoying the path that leads you there.
He loves his children, Olivia and Dimitri, and he draws for themr!
